The 2021 Ancestrale Rose is a classic rosè from Sutton Grange made in the “methode ancestrale” or “petillant naturel” style. This means the wine finishes the end of the primary fermentation in bottle, capturing the essence of the single vintage and vineyard. It is aged on lees over winter and was lightly disgorged to remove heavy tartrates (although light lees remain). This wine is extremely versatile and enjoyed as an aperitif or at its best with antipasto or light seafood dishes. A blend of Shiraz (47%), Viognier (46%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (7%)
Melanie Chester, Sutton Grange Winery Winemaker
The wine has a pale pink colour with light musk tones.
Nose of bright pineapple, coconut and guava with aromatic confection notes.
The palate has creamy richness from lees and bottles ferment, with bright red fruits and berries. Light refreshing bead and bright acidity on the finish.
